UPPER and LOWER change letter case
UPPER returns text in capital letters, and LOWER returns it in lowercase. Wrap the column in the function, like UPPER(name). Only the result changes: the stored rows stay exactly as they were. Add AS to keep a clean heading, otherwise the column may be labeled upper(name).
A tiny example
In plain English: Show me every drink name in capital letters, labeled drink.
SELECT UPPER(name) AS drink
FROM drinks;What comes back
drink
---
LATTE
CORTADO
COLD BREW
Same drinks as before, just in capital letters. The drinks table still says Latte.
